Our congregation is looking for a dynamic religious professional familiar with the Unitarian Universalist tradition who is excited about pioneering a new role in our congregation. We are a thriving church community that seeks to become more engaged with our surrounding communities from the inside out!  This position will require a creative, organized team player who can dream and plan big—someone who wants to focus on introducing and integrating people of all ages to Unitarian Universalism and First Parish Church (FPC) through religious education, social media, social justice and special events.

Experience, Qualities and Qualifications

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an articulate and enthusiastic voice for Unitarian Universalism
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Have experience leading a successful, multi-age religious education program
  • Have experience organizing and promoting events
  • Have experience using all forms of social media to support and encourage community engagement
  • Be an excellent speaker and a confident “people person”
  • Be a team player who works well with others
  • Have experience managing and motivating volunteers
  • Have experience with data
  • and content management systems
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and (ideally) some graduate education in religious studies or equivalent work experience

Duties and Responsibilities

Working with the Religious Education Committee to:

  • Provide leadership to the religious education program for children and youth
  • Select and implement appropriate curricula
  • Develop dynamic children’s and multi-gen worship experiences
  • Organize special events for families
  • Recruit, train and support volunteer teachers
  • Recruit and supervise the childcare provider
  • Recruit and oversee musicians to work on special events with the children
  • Administer and oversee the OWL program
  • Provide leadership and support to the high school youth group, including supervision of the paid youth advisor

Working with the Membership Committee to:

  • Maintain a database of all visitors
  • Interact and follow up with all new visitors
  • Develop targeted mailings to new and inactive members
  • Develop and implement an outreach plan to become involved with the wider communities of Duxbury, Pembroke and Marshfield and other surrounding towns
  • Act as an ambassador on behalf of FPC to the greater UU community

Working with the Communications Committee to:

  • Develop and Implement a Communications Plan which includes:

    • A coordinated social media strategy for FPC
    • Supports committees by promoting and advertising events across social and print media platforms
    • Maintain FPC website content
  • Collaborate with the greater UU community to encourage engagement with other UU congregations, especially around youth and Social Justice Activities.
