Skylar’s Story

Skylar Kergil Tells Us His Story at the 2015 Welcoming Congregation Worship Service

We were delighted to have Skylar Kergil at the 2015 Welcoming Congregation worship service. Skylar is a musician, transgender activist, and YouTube sensation. Skylar’s transition from female to male is documented on his YouTube channel at skylarkeleven. Skylar has inspired countless youth and adults and has been recognized for his activism with the Trevor Project’s Youth Innovator Award.

Skylar performed his song, “Tell Me a Story” Listen during the worship service. His after-church talkback was well attended and provided a marvelous opportunity to hear another of Skylar’s songs and learn more about his journey. Skylar, it should be noted, found support early on in the Unitarian Universalist church in Littleton, Massachusetts.

This worship service was also memorable for the choir’s rousing rendition of “Honey in the Rock.” (Left to Right: The Reverend Catherine Cullen, Skylar Kergil, Ruth Oakland, and Jim Hamilton.)
